Welcome to the conversation!

Community Conversations is a large scale consultation to find out what really matters to the people in our local area. This is your chance to shout about all the things your community does right, and to have a chat about the things you'd like to see improve.

Conversations will be happening at Zest and other community spaces in the area such as the Burlington meeting room and the Langsett bungalow. If you'd like us to host a conversation in a space near you please get in touch and we'll do our best to sort something out.

What's The Point?

There are three main reasons for us to be carrying this out now;

1. Conversations promote understanding. Providing space for people to talk about the things on their mind is the first step towards building stronger communities.
2. Better services. Understanding what the priorities are for our community means that Zest can make sure we are providing appropriate services and projects.
3. Community Goals. The information generated by these conversations will form the basis of a Community Plan. Together with a Community Stakeholder group, this plan can inform statutory services and other agencies on how to best work with this community towards accomplishing it's goals.

How Do I Take Part?

There are several ways to get involved and make sure your voice is counted;

• Start a Conversation. You don't have to wait for us to start having conversations with friends and neighbours about the things that matter to you. Just have a natter.
• Attend a Community Conversation. These are group conversations that will be held at Zest or other community spaces. Led by a trained facilitator, each conversation will focus on a single topic. The specific points discussed will depend on the group, though the facilitator will guide things gently to stay on topic.
• Take part in a Zest activity/group conversation. Similar to the above conversations, some of our groups will be taking part in specific themed chats while doing their normal activity.
• Complete a survey. At the bottom of the page are links to the six surveys covering the main themes of our conversations. You can fill out the surveys of just the topics that matter most to you, or do all six.
  • These surveys will also be available in print if you would prefer to complete them in person. Just ask at Zest reception for the survey you’d like to complete.
• Keep an eye out at our events for the Community Conversation stand where you can have your say on any of the topics.

What Happens To The Information?

We will record all of the conversations either digitally or physically. We will then transcribe the audio and process it to discover the themes within. Once we have analysed all of the themes across all of the conversations and comments we will be able to score and prioritise them. From this we will produce a report that will be published and shared with the people who took part.

This report will be used to redefine Zest's aims and objectives. We will share the report with community stakeholders and external agencies to begin the process of forming a community plan.

Once the report is published we will destroy any recordings and identifying data. The anonymised transcripts will be get for future analysis. Some quotes may be used in publicity or other print.
