Pride of Yorkshire is a large-scale public art trail led by Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity.

The trail aims to unite communities, businesses, schools and creatives across Sheffield to raise vital funds for Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity.

The trail will be formed with 150 life-size lion and lioness sculptures designed and painted by artists and sponsored by local businesses.

There will also be 150 adorable cub sculptures, which are fundraised for, painted and adopted by schools and local community groups. The trail will run from June – September 2026.

Zest has adopted a cub and is committed to raising at least £1000 to donate to the children’s hospital — but we hope to double that target.

Why a lion?

The lion cub symbolises strength, comfort, and courage—qualities shown by every child cared for by the hospital. By reaching our target, Zest will officially adopt a cub as part of the Pride of Yorkshire initiative.

What’s the Plan?

We intend to make the painting of our cub a real community inspired project.

We will ask local school children to think of a name and get them hands-on involved creating a stand out design with the help of our Zest crafters group. We also plan to have a series of Pride of Yorkshire inspired events.

Finally we plan to auction our cub with the proceeds going to top up our donation.
