Citrus offer a variety of healthy breakfasts, lunches, snacks, juices and coffees all available on a pay-as-you-feel basis. Currently the cafe is open daily from Monday to Friday from 9am – 2pm.
The cafe is staffed by chefs from The Real Junk Food Project (TRJFP) Sheffield and assisted by volunteers from the area who all have the opportunity to gain qualifications leading to paid work. The food used has been intercepted by TRJFP Sheffield, who since 2015 have saved 100s of tons of perfectly edible food from becoming landfill and made it available to the people of Sheffield.
Jo Hercberg, founder and Director for TRJFP Sheffield said “We are over the moon to be able to open a new pay-as-you-feel cafe in an exciting venue and bring the pay-as-you-feel concept to Upperthorpe. Having run several taster days in the centre we know the community has a real appetite for a vibrant cafe with a wide ranging food offer. Over the summer we will be opening for lunches with a view to extend once we hit September. The Zest Centre is a perfect fit for TRJFP Sheffield as they offer real support to people wanting to gain skills, manage their health and improve their wellbeing. What better place to host a pay-as-you-feel cafe?”
If you would like to get involved in running the cafe you can sign up to volunteer here or just call in for a chat.
