Upperthorpe Lion's Sports Club: Sheffield Sport in the Community Project

Sheffield Sport in the Community is a new initiative aimed at providing communities across Sheffield with the opportunity to take part in sport and physical activity. Disadvantaged neighbourhoods throughout Sheffield will form Community Sport Clubs which will compete at monthly Sport Festivals. Children will be provided with expert coaching, gaining skills in a variety of different sports.

Zest are fully in support of the program and have developed a new Community Sports Club. The Upperthorpe (ZEST) Lion’s will provide high quality experiences and opportunities, with all sessions delivered by qualified sports coaches. This HUB club will look to create greater opportunities for local children to take part and succeed within sport.

Upperthorpe Lion's Sports Club:

WHO: Girls and Boys aged 8-11

WHAT: Sports Activities (Rounders, Cricket, Football, Rugby, Athletics)

WHEN: Wednesday 4:30-6:00 PM

WHERE: Netherthorpe School Sports Hall

COST: £0.50

Tag Rugby Competition

Upperthorpe Lion's recently took part in the Sheffield Sport in the Community Tag Rugby Competition. It was a great event with 9 Sheffield teams competing for a chance to play a warm up game at Don Valley Stadium, the home of Sheffield Eagles Rugby Club.

The whole team performed brilliantly, finishing 3rd overall. However special mention must go to Harry Webster who was spotted by Sheffield Eagles Scouts as the Player of the Tournament.

The next competition is taking place on Wednesday 17th June where the Upperthorpe Lion's will take on 9 Sheffield Teams in the Sheffield Sport in the Community Rounders Competition

Fit 4 family

Exciting news!! Zest would like to invite you and your family members to join in with our new Fit4Family physical activity project. We are offering you FREE weekly physical activity sessions as part of the new Fit4Family project.

The session are as follows :- 

Fit 4 Family 4-10 year olds @ Zest, TUESDAY 5-6pm (PLEASE BRING AN ADULT!)

Fit 4 Family 4-8 year olds @ Netherthorpe Primary School- WEDNESDAY 3.30-4.30pm (PLEASE BRING AN ADULT)

Sessions will include games and activities that help to develop skills such as balance, co-ordination and agility, and most importantly they will be packed with fun!

Table Tennis

 Zest are now offering Table Tennis hire during weekends in our Community Hall.  We welcome all ages, however children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Hire charges include table and bat hire for 1 hour. No need to book, just drop in over the weekend for Table Tennis hire. All ages welcome.

Junior £4 (Slice card £2.80) Includes table and bat hire, balls available for purchase from reception.
