Zest's Family Support service aims to ensure families can access support services before they get into crisis. The service helps vulnerable children and their families to be safe and well, helps families to recognise their responsibilities and empower them to meet their full potential. The service is available to all families with children aged from birth to 18 years old in the Netherthorpe, Upperthorpe and Langsett and provides short-term support to overcome difficulties or problems. Families can get directly in touch with the Family Support Officer or they can be referred by an agency/health professional. Advice/InformationThe Family Support service offers advice and information about local & citywide services for children and families. Families can also arrange to meet the family support officer for one-to-one discussions, information and advice. The family support officer can refer families for specialist or additional support. Lone Parents Support ServiceThe Family Support project works in partnership with Scoop aid to One to One supportA team of sessional family support workers are available to provide one-to-one support to individual families. The role of the family support worker is to enable families to access resources and services in their community, build their confidence and support them during times of difficulty. Family Drop-in SessionsThis is an excellent information and advice service specifically aimed at expectant women and new parents. The sessions take place at the Zest Centre every Thursday between 1-3pm.
