Cardiac Rehabilitation Phase IIIThis is a free service provided by the NHS to support patients with Coronary Heart Disease and help them return to a normal life as quickly as possible. The Cardiac Rehabilitation Phase III Sessions consist of a 6 week supervised rolling exercise and education programme, based at the Zest Centre, for people who have been referred from the hospital after a cardiac event with the aim of helping patients and their families to recover and keep their hearts healthy. The Phase III programme consists of two main parts:
How often do I need to attend?The program lasts for 6 weeks, twice weekly with sessions being held every Tuesday and Thursday between 09.30 am - 12.00 pm (approximately).
How soon can I start?Four weeks after a Heart attack, Six weeks after Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting or four weeks after Angioplasty or Stenting. What do I need to bring with me?Something comfortable to wear for the exercise sessions and a list of your current medication and dosage. Cardiac Rehabilitation Phase IVCardiac Phase IV is an exercise programme which helps cardiac patients to continue exercising after the Cardiac Rehabilitation Phase III programme at the Zest Centre ends. We can also see people who have been referred by their GP with a cardiac history. These activity sessions at the Zest Centre are staffed by BACR exercise professionals who are here to help you continue exercising in a safe, appropriate and effective way in order to enjoy life to the full. What will I need to bring with me to these sessions?Your referral form from the GP and something comfortable to exercise in together with a list of your medication. What are the costs?For patients who are registered with certain GP's this service will be free for the first 12 weeks. Patients who live outside the catchment area will pay an initial induction fee of £ 5.00 or £ 3.50 with a slice card and then each session thereafter will cost£ 3.00 or £ 2.10 with a slice card.
